Due to the on going conflict with ISIS and the security situation thousands of Syrians have been internally displaced or forced to flee to neighboring countries.
This situation has resulted in millions being internally displaced, with thousands fleeing to the northern parts of Syria, known as Rojava.
From Kobane city, to Cezire and Efrin several IDP camps have been set up. However, the camp administrators are struggling with lack of basic supplies, and require significant help in supporting the displaced.
Sanitation remains a key area of need in the camps. Mishtanur camp in Kobane is one such example. The camp was established two years ago, but lack the appropriate materials, including the tents that the families stay in.
The ongoing embargo and border closures prevents many NGOs and humanitarian supplies from entering into north Syria. This problem continues to prevent the region being able to support the displaced. For this reason local NGOs are an important tool in supporting the displaced and the traumatized communities.
Hêvî will continue to support the camps through providing them with basic supplies such as food packages, sanitation products, winter clothes and other essentials.
The Hêvî Foundation team continued this week to deliver much needed school supplies to the schools of Kobane. The support included laptops and printers to the schools.
Many of the schools still lack basic supplies, which makes the teaching process extremely difficult. From teaching a deeply traumatized children, to schools which lack basic infrastructure the difficulties faced by the teachers in Kobane city and surrounding provinces is immense.
The Hêvî team will continue to support the schools, children and communities of Rojava.
The Hêvî Foundation team provided much needed printers to Kobane schools.
The printers were provided after the Education Ministry requested support in the form of education and school supplies. The Hevi Foundation team will continue to provide further help and support for the schools of Kobane.
the situation of the education sector remains difficult and faces many limitations. A range of needs from school supplies to sports, to science, office and administrative equipment are urgently needed.

Hevi Foundation has been working closely with the Education Ministry of Kobane to provide much needed school supplies for the children’s education.
Recently, Hevi Foundation, on request from the Education Ministry commenced purchasing of school seats and desks for Kobane’s schools. The number of desk sets requests exceeds 2000. Currently close to 300 have been built.
However, the number of seats and desks required are so great that further support is required.
Many of the desks are heavily damaged, but some can be recycled back. Still hundreds of children lack access to education and continue to miss out due to basic school supplies. Many of the schools in the provinces have been heavily damaged as a result of the war and are considered unsafe. Much works is required to rebuild these damaged schools before they can function and provide education.
We hope to continue to support the children and the education sector in north Syria.
The team at Hêvî Foundation managed to deliver 39 tons of urgently needed medicine to Rojava.
The much needed medicine, which included vaccinations, antibiotics and insulin was delivered to the Ministry of Health in Cezire Canton.
The medicine was collected following a number of urgent calls by the health ministries across the region, especially the city of Kobane which has been struggling with medicine shortages.
The team at Hêvî Foundation will continue to provide medical health and support for the people of the region. However, due to the border difficulties and the number of Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the region the need for medical support is an urgent matter. Lack of vaccinations for children currently remains one of the most urgent needs.
